Geologic Time!!
Starting this past week, we started our new chapter! Geologic Times! This is the start to my concept map, it is not much but is a great start. I started with what I know, I know that Earth is really really old, 4.6 Billion years to be exact. Then I thought.... I know there are ways to measure and compare really old things, relative and absolute dating. Absolute dating relates to methods, it compares methods whereas relative dating relates to strategies, it compares different strategies.
In class we learned about two scientist Hutton and Usher. Both scientist attempted to guess how old the Earth really is. Hutton was correct, guessing around 4.6 billion years. Usher was wrong, he assumed the Earth was only a few hundred years old. He was proven wrong due to dated objects around the world that dates way past his predicted time.
I also wanted to add dinosaurs! One because I am fascinated with them and the history that each bone can hold. Also they represent that Earth is really old!!
Overall, I am excited to learn more in this unit and about geologic times! One big thing I learned is Earth is always evolving and every changing.
