Climate Change
This week class consisted of climate change. This is a topic the demands attention and action. Our planet is at its warmest compared to years past. The dangers of climate change do not just affect one area, it affects the planet as a whole.
The emission coming from factories around the world pump out gasses and chemicals- CO2 to be exact. The gasses rise into the atmosphere causing the air to become very warm. Warm air leads to many cause and effects in weather. Warm air in the water leads to the ice caps melting in the artic which is devastating to the organisms that rely on ice and cold temperatures. Oceans levels are rising, rising water releases more moisture in the air. Warm air combined with high level of moisture mean more hurricanes. These hurricanes are becoming more destructive because the warmer weather generates more energy. While hurricanes are taking over the western hemisphere, the eastern hemisphere is experiencing hot and dry weather that causes land and habitats to go very dry. Therefore more prone to wildfires. These wildfires spread faster and wider due to the extremely dry climate.
What I listed above is an example that this is a domino effect. Climate change affects EVERYTHING. We need to make a change and lucky for us, it is possible in our lifetime. We need to make the conscious decision. Factories need to reduce emission. We need to switch to solar/wind power. It comes down to the people so focused on money, but what they don't realize, they are gaining money while pulling the plug on our planet. We are circling the drain but it can be stopped.
